About the position

The Research Technician position in the Division of Neurology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) involves supporting research on epilepsy and neurodevelopmental disorders. The role includes technical support, animal husbandry, and various laboratory techniques, contributing to the advancement of pediatric care through innovative research.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and independently perform research procedures
  • Maintain appropriate log and lab notebooks
  • Plan and modify research protocols and procedures
  • Maintain mouse colony and perform genotyping
  • Conduct cell culture
  • Prepare laboratory reagents and monitor laboratory inventory
  • Supervise, train, and mentor undergraduate students and new staff members
  • Determine work assignments, schedules, and laboratory priorities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
  • At least three (3) years of directly relevant post-graduate scientific lab experience

Nice-to-haves

  • At least five (5) years of directly relevant post-graduate scientific lab experience preferred
  • Specific prior experience with animal handling and surgeries such as stereotaxic injection
  • Experience in histology/immunohistochemistry
