The Research Veterinary Assistant will work as part of a pre-clinical studies team with the responsibility of assisting with studies involving laboratory animals. This position includes care of animals in a research setting as well as facility upkeep and maintenance. The role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The candidate must perform the necessary functions to fulfill research obligations while adhering to animal use protocols and regulatory compliance. The Center focuses on clinical and translational research, bridging the gap between rodent models and pre-clinical studies using principles of clinical medicine. In the veterinary context, the research spans the entire translational continuum, applying research findings to primary veterinary care settings. Examples of studies conducted in the Center include pre-clinical studies of orthopedic devices for both animal and human use, clinical studies on the treatment and prevention of respiratory diseases in horses, and clinical trials evaluating bladder cancer treatments in Scottish Terriers, which serve as an animal model for human bladder cancer.
