About the position

The Researcher in AI Privacy and Trustworthiness at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is responsible for advancing research in AI privacy, trustworthiness, and reliability, particularly in the context of renewable energy applications. This role involves leading program development, identifying funding opportunities, and mentoring junior staff while contributing to the strategic growth of the computational sciences area. The researcher will engage in collaborative projects, develop innovative solutions, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders to support NREL's mission of promoting renewable energy technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to existing projects and establish a new research program in AI trustworthiness.
  • Lead program development and identify funding opportunities.
  • Mentor students and junior staff.
  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to deliver innovative research solutions.
  • Perform technical tasks independently while keeping pace with research and development.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant field or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated research experience in AI privacy, trustworthiness, and federated learning.
  • Strong technical background with experience in project management and leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in interdisciplinary work.
