About the position

The Johnathan M Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University is seeking a Quantitative Researcher for a 24-month limited term position, with the possibility of extension. This role focuses on executing research and evaluation projects related to youth civic engagement, particularly in higher education. The researcher will be involved in data collection, analysis, and dissemination of insights to stakeholders, while also supporting outreach and partnership management.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to all phases of research and evaluation projects.
  • Create data collection instruments and manage data workflow processes.
  • Conduct empirical quantitative analyses and support data cleaning and quality checks.
  • Support lead researcher and data analyst on projects focused on voter registration and civic engagement.
  • Perform desktop research and literature reviews, and assist in report production.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously and support CIRCLE's overall operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or demonstrated competencies in relevant skills.
  • Three years of related experience in research, data analysis, or program evaluation.
  • Proficiency in a statistical software package or programming language, preferably R.
  • Experience with descriptive and inferential statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of logic models, research design, multivariate statistics, hypothesis testing, and basic linear regression.
  • Foundation in quantitative methods and ability to design and conduct quantitative research.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with data visualization and maintaining data management systems.
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to manage multiple project deliverables and timelines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.

  • Experience managing external stakeholder relationships.
  • Broad understanding of higher education and election administration in the U.S.
  • Experience with large datasets and programming languages such as SQL and/or Python.
