About the position

The Residence Coordinator-Conduct Hearing Officer position at OSU Institute of Technology involves living on campus in a residence hall apartment and taking the lead in administrative duties related to student conduct and supporting student success. The role includes managing conduct cases, conducting disciplinary hearings, and developing educational programming to enhance the overall student experience both academically and socially.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Hearing Officer for Student Conduct at various levels.
  • Manage Student Conduct Cases as assigned by the Chief Conduct Officer.
  • Conduct disciplinary hearings and assign appropriate sanctions for misconduct.
  • Monitor and review the progress of assigned sanctions to students.
  • Assist in training University staff members and student employees on Student Conduct topics.
  • Create monthly educational campaigns covering various topics for the entire University.
  • Assist in classroom educational opportunities within College Strategies or other class settings.
  • Mentor individual students and student leaders as needed.
  • Work with the Student Success Coordinator to support specific students or projects.
  • Assist in Residential Life events and projects, including health and safety inspections and maintenance reporting.
  • Participate in Residential Life on-call duty rotation.
  • Supervise full-time desk clerks and student employees in the Residence Hall.
  • Perform other assigned Residential Life duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • History of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
  • Moderate experience with computer usage and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to learn new software systems as needed.
  • Experience in a college residential life setting preferred.
  • Experience with mediation preferred.
  • Ability to lead and contribute effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Positive 'can-do' attitude with a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Willingness to self-initiate learning to remain current.
  • Ability to grasp and apply training quickly and assist others in learning new skills.
  • Service-oriented with the ability to respond effectively to various audiences.
  • Student-oriented advocate for a healthy living-learning community.
  • Flexibility, innovation, and self-motivation are essential.
  • Ability to perform mathematical and accounting procedures for project budgets.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to recognize and resolve conflict.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver's license required if using a personal or university vehicle.
