About the position

The Resident Aide at Gateway Gardens is responsible for providing non-professional direct patient care under the supervision of nursing personnel. The role focuses on assisting residents with daily activities, maintaining a positive environment, and ensuring the well-being of residents through various care tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily bathing and grooming activities.
• Provide reminders for medical appointments and assist with basic room care.
• Record vital signs, weight, and measure residents as directed by supervisors.
• Observe and report any changes in resident conditions to supervisors.
• Prepare residents for meals and provide after-meal care.
• Maintain resident confidentiality and treat residents with dignity and respect.
• Assist in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes of residents.
• Provide light housekeeping services in resident apartments.
• Follow established infection control and safety rules.
• Attend orientation, training, and staff meetings.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• CPR certification required.
• Completion of a training program for certification (CNA preferred but not required).
• Previous experience with geriatric nursing preferred.
• Knowledge of basic first aid and resident care procedures.
• Good physical and mental health; neat and responsible demeanor.
• Ability to lift and assist in moving articles over seventy-five pounds.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience in a nursing or caregiving role.
• Basic understanding of aseptic and sterile techniques.
