About the position

The Resident Assistant plays a crucial role in the wellness team at American House Senior Living Communities, providing essential personal assistance to residents to help them maintain their independence and psychosocial wellness. This position involves direct interaction with residents, ensuring their safety and comfort while adhering to established safety regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Providing companionship and building rapport with residents.
  • Assisting residents in activities of daily living, including ambulation, transferring, showering, personal hygiene, incontinence care, feeding, and supervision.
  • Gathering and assisting residents in activities, conducting group or one-on-one activities as requested.
  • Conducting daily tasks safely and adhering to all safety procedures.
  • Serving meals to residents and performing after-meal cleanup.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of resident rooms throughout the day.
  • Managing resident laundry as assigned.
  • Observing residents and reporting any concerns to the Wellness Director.
  • Following established safety regulations, including fire protection and infection control.
  • Communicating with family members, visitors, and volunteers in a customer service-oriented manner.
  • Reporting changes in residents' conditions to the Wellness Director.
  • Answering emergency response system calls immediately.
  • Providing post-mortem care as instructed.
  • Completing all required documentation and paperwork.
  • Participating in Wellness meetings and mandatory trainings to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Ensuring compliance with American House's Mission and philosophy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational experience.
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with residents and staff.
  • Ability to lift, pull, push, carry 40 pounds and move quickly to provide emergency assistance.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, TB test, and physical.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with seniors.
  • CNA certification.
  • Previous experience in Assisted Living or Memory Care.
