About the position

The Assistant Resident Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of a property, ensuring efficient management of staff and maintenance of apartments. This position requires a hands-on approach, with responsibilities spanning various departments, including property maintenance, tenant relations, and lease administration. The ideal candidate will possess the ambition and vision to tackle challenges and enhance the living experience for residents.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day activities of all employees and report violations to the District Manager.
  • Coordinate building operations including apartment rentals, purchasing, maintenance, and administration.
  • Manage apartment rentals and marketing initiatives.
  • Schedule and coordinate maintenance and repairs with maintenance personnel.
  • Inspect vacated apartment units and arrange for necessary repairs and upgrades.
  • Coordinate resident move-ins and move-outs.
  • Handle lease administration, including preparation of rental agreements and extensions.
  • Process tenant applications and obtain credit reports.
  • Collect rents, notify District Manager of outstanding rents, and prepare bank deposits.
  • Ensure compliance with fair housing and local landlord-tenant laws.
  • Maintain effective customer service programs and resident retention activities.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, vendors, and the community.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in property management or as a property assistant.
  • Knowledge of property maintenance and upkeep.
  • Experience conducting physical inspections of residential properties.
  • Knowledge of landlord-tenant law and local and federal housing laws.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Affordable Housing Proprietary software.
  • Bilingual skills.
