About the position

The Resident Assistant is responsible for providing personal care and delegated health-related services designed to maintain the resident's physical and emotional well-being. The Resident Assistant follows the service schedule for each resident and correctly documents services provided. There is no experience or certification needed for this position! We provide a robust onsite training program. Ecumen Brooks consists of 38 assisted living rental apartment homes, as well as 12 additional residences for seniors requiring memory care services and is located in Owatonna, Minnesota. Responsibilities

  • Assist with treatments and activities of daily living as delegated by the Clinical Director per individualized care plan, including dressing, grooming, bathing, eating, toileting, ambulation, and transferring.
  • Assist with AM and HS cares including oral care as needed.
  • Provide incontinence care and assist with assistive devices, glasses, and hearing aids.
  • Administer medication as delegated by the RN.
  • Observe, document, and report changes in physical, cognitive, and emotional condition of residents.
  • Promote independence with residents, offering choices and fostering self-help skills.
  • Partner effectively with others in a demanding and changing environment, supporting all employees within the community as directed by the Clinical Director or Registered Nurse.
  • Orient and coach assigned employees.
  • Complete scheduled cleaning tasks.
  • Lead and assist resident activities as assigned.
  • Respond appropriately to all safety hazards, call lights, requests, and reassignment of duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 17 years of age or older
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the facility including but not limited to: Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy, HIPAA, Resident's Bill of Rights, Universal Precaution, AWAIR, OSHA, Right to know, SDS, ADA, HUD Policy and Procedures, Fair Housing laws and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma, GED or Higher
  • Previous experience working with seniors
  • Licensure/Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant CNA and/or Home Health Aide
