Responsibilities

  • Provide security and supervision to adjudicated residents in various situations and activities.
  • Perform routine duties in care, custody, education, and treatment of residents; observe, record, and report health symptoms, behavior, and activity of residents.
  • Manage aggressive and non-aggressive behavior through verbal and physical intervention using prescribed techniques.
  • Conduct counts of residents and enforce institutional rules and regulations; monitor resident and staff activities via surveillance.
  • Provide paraprofessional counseling and instruction to residents, directing their daily activities and helping them achieve personal goals.
  • Inspect facility living areas to ensure health and safety standards are met; conduct searches for unauthorized items.
  • Patrol facility grounds and maintain order during programs, meals, and recreation periods.
  • Complete written reports on incidents and residents' behaviors; communicate with emergency responders in crisis situations.
  • Provide safe transport services for youth to various appointments and maintain documentation in assigned areas.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • For RCS II, completion of thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university or one year of security experience is required.
  • Knowledge of behavioral problems typically found in delinquent residents and methods of household management.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in supervising youth or similar roles.
  • Valid PMP certification.
