About the position

The Resident Coordinator at the Buffalo City Mission plays a vital role in fostering a Christ-like caring atmosphere for residents, focusing on life skill development within a safe and healing environment. This position is dedicated to meeting the practical needs of all residents while embodying the mission, values, and operating principles of the Buffalo City Mission. The Resident Coordinator will perform initial intake procedures, ensuring accurate data entry into the Client Record Online Service System (CROSS), and will schedule the first case management appointment, effectively communicating this to the resident during the intake process. Additionally, the coordinator will introduce residents to the facility through the Mission's initial intake and orientation process, ensuring they feel welcomed and informed. The role involves monitoring resident medications, conducting unit inspections, and documenting any incidents through the appropriate reporting processes. The Resident Coordinator will also assist residents with daily housekeeping tasks, oversee the emergency shelter linen exchange, and manage resident laundry. They will distribute resident mail, monitor resident events, and conduct direct observation drug and alcohol screenings, including breathalyzer and urine tests. Ensuring the physical comfort and safety of residents is paramount, as is meeting their needs for food, shelter, clothing, and personal care. The coordinator will implement policies and procedures consistently and impartially, maintaining effective communication between staff members and case managers. Participation in staff meetings and training sessions is essential for increasing job comprehension and effectiveness. The Resident Coordinator will represent the organization to all clients, volunteers, and co-workers in a manner that exemplifies Christian behavior, serving as a role model for others. Responsibilities

  • Perform initial intake procedure, ensuring accurate data entry into CROSS (Client Record Online Service System).
  • Schedule the initial first case management appointment and communicate the appointment to the resident during the intake process.
  • Introduce residents to the facility through the Mission's initial intake and orientation process.
  • Communicate behavioral actions through the incident reporting process.
  • Conduct unit inspections, document and communicate appropriately to respective management and provide feedback to resident and case management.
  • Monitor resident medications and report through documentation.
  • Report vacated units and prepare them for new residents.
  • Assist residents with day-to-day housekeeping of facility, sleeping, and lounge areas.
  • Oversee emergency shelter linen exchange as well as resident's laundry.
  • Distribute resident mail.
  • Monitor resident events as assigned.
  • Conduct direct observation drug and alcohol screenings, including breathalyzer and urine tests.
  • Ensure physical comfort and safety of the residents as well as meet their needs for food, shelter, clothing and personal care.
  • Implement policies and procedures guidelines consistently and impartially.
  • Maintain effective communication between staff members and Case Managers using various communication vehicles.
  • Assist and maintain clear access to the facility in inclement weather.
  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings to increase job comprehension.
  • Represent the organization to all clients, volunteers, and co-workers in a Christ-like manner.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • One-year experience in a human service field is desired.
  • In the midst of a mature walk with Jesus Christ and able to articulate belief.
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of human services.
  • Ability to communicate in a positive manner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work as a member of a team making maximum use of supportive resources.
  • Ability to write clearly, tactfully and effectively.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in customer service (volunteer or work related) preferred.
