About the position

The Resident Audio Engineer role involves providing technical support and expertise in automotive audio systems at the customer's location or nearby. This position requires collaboration with the OEM's engineering team to ensure the successful integration and implementation of audio systems in vehicles, necessitating a strong technical background in audio systems, automotive electronics, and vehicle manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and expertise in automotive audio systems at the customer's location.
  • Collaborate with the OEM's engineering team for successful packaging and integration of audio systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of customer-related activities, including test results and design changes.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate project status and findings to stakeholders.
  • Conduct audio system testing and validation, including objective and subjective evaluations.
  • Troubleshoot audio issues and ensure compliance with quality and performance standards.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
  • Understand and apply automotive industry regulations, standards, and trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited university.
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in the automotive industry or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle wiring basics and interior components.
  • Strong written and spoken language skills.
  • Experience in troubleshooting mechanical or electrical component-level issues.
  • Ability to use CDA, iBox, CAN analyzer, and CANOE for audio system validation.
  • Experience managing Tiered automotive suppliers through design direction and implementation.
  • Understanding of specifications defining functions and verification tests for audio systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited university.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand acoustics of small rooms and cabins.
  • Knowledge of electronics, acoustics, and ANC principles in a vehicle/system environment.
  • Experience with vehicle acoustic characteristics and audio amplifiers.
  • Familiarity with active noise cancellation techniques and algorithms.
  • Experience with packaging audio components in new vehicles.
