About The Position
At Jacobs, we are not just passionate about infrastructure and water/wastewater projects; we push the limits of what's possible to make the world smarter and more connected. We are providing supplemental engineering services, including project management and construction management, and commissioning oversight to support a large wastewater infrastructure capital improvement program in Orange County, California. As a Resident Engineer, you will be responsible for managing complex, technical engineering construction projects in the wastewater, civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and controls (I&C) fields. You will lead construction project teams, which include Assistant Resident Engineers, Inspectors, Schedulers, and others, fostering a high degree of teamwork and cooperation across all departments and with stakeholders. In this role, you will lead the project team in making critical decisions regarding technical approaches, cost control, schedule control, change management, risk management, and performance. You will be tasked with identifying problems, analyzing information, and developing sound recommendations. Acting as the primary project interface for the Owner, you will collaborate closely with the Owner's Project Manager, designer, contractor, and operations and maintenance teams. Leading project meetings with contractors and stakeholders will be essential to effectively deliver results in a timely manner. Building a trusted relationship with the project team, contractor, and the client's staff is crucial. You will emphasize safe construction practices, adhering to the Beyond Zero initiative, and maintaining a high quality of construction. Leading by example, you will oversee safe practices on site, ensuring that all team members prioritize safety and quality in their work.
