The role also involves fulfilling the guidelines set forth in the Technician Resource Advancement Certification (TRAC) program, ensuring that all service department duties are executed as directed by the Branch Service Manager. In addition to technical skills, the Field Service Technician must engage in various administrative tasks to support the service department. This includes maintaining effective communication within the department to enhance service labor sales, utilizing computer programs and John Deere communication tools for efficient operations, and accurately recording service hours and mileage. The technician is expected to maintain a clean and safe work environment, both in the service area and while operating the service truck in the field. Participation in job-related training and development is also a key aspect of this role, ensuring that the technician remains knowledgeable about company and competitor products. Inventory control is another critical function of this position. The technician will be responsible for managing the parts inventory on the service truck while in the field and ensuring that personal tools are accounted for and maintained. The technician will perform basic diagnostics to determine necessary repairs, advise customers on replacement parts, and test mechanical products and equipment post-repair to ensure compliance and proper performance. Completing all required reports and forms related to work orders, including warranty information, is essential to maintain accurate records and facilitate smooth operations. The role may also involve operating a company vehicle to provide service work in the field, delivering parts, running errands, and assisting with other duties as assigned by corporate management, all within the framework of Murphy Tractor and Equipment Company, Inc.'s objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain healthy relationships with customers.

  • Complete warranty information and maintain current knowledge of company and competitor products.
  • Maintain condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Operate company vehicle to provide service work in the field.
  • Deliver parts and run errands as needed.
  • Assist with other duties assigned by corporate management.

Requirements
