About the position

The Resident Medication Tech position at Village On the Park Steeplechase is a full-time role focused on providing compassionate care to senior residents. The primary responsibility is to assist in medication administration and support residents in their daily needs while fostering a respectful and dignified environment. The role emphasizes the importance of individual care, encouraging independence, and maintaining a sense of community among residents.

Responsibilities

  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion in the performance of tasks related to resident care.
  • Administers medication and treatments as prescribed by a physician.
  • Monitors residents' responses to existing treatment plans and notifies healthcare coordinators of any issues.
  • Adheres to community infection control policies and procedures relevant to medication administration.
  • Assists residents with medication as defined in medication procedures.
  • Supervises residents who self-administer medication.
  • Maintains daily records for residents in accordance with company policy.
  • Observes and documents the health and emotional condition of each resident, reporting changes to the supervisor.
  • Writes weekly/monthly summaries addressing problems identified in the service plan.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the medicine supply room.
  • Counts controlled substances with outgoing Resident Medication Aide and ensures accuracy before accepting keys.
  • Responds promptly to resident requests for assistance, including emergency situations.
  • Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.

Requirements

  • 6 months to 1 year of prior resident care experience, preferably with seniors.
  • Certified Medication Aide preferred; hourly rate higher if state certified.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and colleagues.
  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Willingness to undergo a routine background check including drug screen.
