About the position

The Resident Nurse - RN - Residency Program at Seattle Children's Hospital is designed for new graduate nurses who have less than one year of experience. This one-year program focuses on transitioning new nurses into pediatric nursing through didactic training, mentorship, and hands-on patient care. Participants will engage in a pediatric curriculum, receive support from nursing leaders, and work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams to build their competencies in pediatric nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, family-centered patient care as part of the healthcare team.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the Nursing Care Process.
  • Participate in didactic training and leadership development.
  • Engage in mentorship and shadow experiences to enhance pediatric nursing skills.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure quality care.
  • Assist in the supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians and other support staff.

Requirements

  • Current Washington State RN License or equivalent state license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification (or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) accepted in lieu of BLS).
  • Experience in pediatric nursing or related fields is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Pediatric Oncology or similar specialties.
  • Previous clinical rotations or senior practicum experience in pediatric settings.
