About the position

The Resident Office Assistant (RA) at the San Francisco Ballet Association plays a crucial role in supporting the management of the Student Residence under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Residential Life. This part-time position involves supervising students, ensuring their safety, and facilitating a harmonious living environment. The RA is responsible for enforcing guidelines, assisting with administrative tasks, and building rapport with students to promote a positive community atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the supervision of students living in the facility.
  • Respond to emergencies such as fire, medical, and earthquake situations.
  • Reinforce compliance with fire, safety, security, and curfew guidelines.
  • Supervise students to scheduled, urgent, and emergency doctor appointments.
  • Oversee student participation in events, activities, bed-checks, curfews, and housekeeping assignments.
  • Assist with facility systems including room assignments and key issuance.
  • Prepare rooms for the school year program and summer session.
  • Build rapport with students and help implement social events.
  • Apply fair and consistent disciplinary standards for dormitory students.
  • Refer major disciplinary offenses to the Senior Manager of Residential Life.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Experience as a summer camp counselor, youth development assistant, or university residence life staff preferred.
  • Ability to effectively supervise students and ensure their safety.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to prioritize work based on the needs of students and the facility.
  • Understanding of confidentiality levels and ability to handle difficult situations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with adolescents in a residential setting.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (provided by SFB).
