About the position

The Resident Program Coordinator at Lake Seminole Square is a pivotal role focused on enhancing the quality of life for residents through a diverse range of activities that align with the LCS Lifestyles & Health Services and the 8 Dimensions of Wellness. This position is not just about organizing events; it is about creating meaningful experiences that cater to the individual needs and interests of the residents. The coordinator will be responsible for the overall planning and implementation of recreational and educational activities, ensuring that each program is tailored to meet the unique preferences of the residents. This includes organizing current events discussions, sensory stimulation activities, cultural events, religious services, and off-campus outings, among others. In addition to activity coordination, the Resident Program Coordinator will produce monthly calendars and promotional materials to keep residents and their families informed about upcoming events. A key aspect of this role involves conducting individual assessments to understand the recreational needs of residents, which will guide the development of personalized programs. The coordinator will also play a vital role in facilitating communication between residents, families, and staff by coordinating Resident Council meetings and special interest gatherings. The position requires a proactive approach to managing the logistics of recreational activities, including directing the movement of residents to and from various areas, maintaining accurate documentation of residents' progress, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The coordinator will also be responsible for purchasing and inventorying supplies, inspecting recreational equipment, and directing volunteer activities, providing training and support to volunteers to enhance the overall program. Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and provides recreational and educational activities such as current events, discussion groups, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, off-campus outings, and one-on-one visits.
  • Produces monthly calendars and other promotional material for activities.
  • Interviews and develops individual resident assessments to provide tailored recreational programs based on needs and interests.
  • Suggests recreational activities for relatives to use upon resident discharge and refers them to community resources.
  • Coordinates Resident Council and family meetings, arranging special meetings for educational opportunities.
  • Directs the movement of residents to and from recreational areas.
  • Prepares and maintains reports, studies, and schedules in accordance with regulations.
  • Purchases and inventories supplies and equipment, inspecting for repair and maintenance needs.
  • Interprets the goals and objectives of the recreational program to staff, volunteers, relatives, and the public.
  • Directs volunteer activities and provides training for volunteers.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of residents' progress and responses to programs.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree is preferable.
  • A qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or two years of experience in a social or recreational program in a licensed health care setting within the last five years is preferred.
  • Ability to frequently stand, stoop, bend, stretch, and squat for approximately 60% of the workday.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Must be able to push residents weighing up to 250 lbs in gerichairs and/or wheelchairs.
