About the position

The Resident Services Coordinator (RSC) at Tumwater Apartments, a housing program of Catholic Housing Services, plays a vital role in fostering community among residents and ensuring they have access to necessary services. This full-time position, starting at $23.19 - $24.58 per hour, is designed for individuals who are passionate about supporting elderly or disabled residents in maintaining their independence and well-being. The RSC will work closely with an on-site management team and will be supervised by an off-site supervisor. The primary responsibilities include outreach and engagement with residents, assisting them in identifying and accessing services that promote self-sufficiency and life satisfaction. The RSC will also collaborate with various service providers to connect residents with social services, health care, employment opportunities, and educational resources. In addition to direct resident support, the RSC will be responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of services provided, advocating for residents, and facilitating community-building activities. This includes organizing events, creating informational materials, and maintaining a directory of local resources. The RSC will also engage in problem-solving with residents and work closely with the on-site manager to address any lease violations or other issues that may arise. The position requires a commitment to confidentiality and respect for residents' privacy, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The work environment is dynamic, with potential exposure to various health and safety concerns, including interactions with individuals facing challenges such as chemical dependency or mental illness. The RSC must be prepared to handle crisis situations and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Responsibilities

  • Provide outreach and engagement services to residents, assisting them in identifying needed services and benefits.
  • Work closely with the on-site manager to monitor residents needing supportive services and address lease violations.
  • Attend unit inspections to gain insight into residents' needs.
  • Assist residents in applying for resources such as income, health care, and employment services.
  • Develop relationships with community resources like health clinics and counseling programs.
  • Educate residents on service availability and application procedures.
  • Act as an advocate for residents to ensure consistent service from agencies.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of responses and resident satisfaction with resources.
  • Help residents build informal support networks with family and friends.
  • Plan and supervise community-building activities with the on-site manager.
  • Create and maintain a directory of local providers for staff and residents.
  • Coordinate hospital discharge planning and eviction prevention efforts as necessary.
  • Produce monthly newsletters and activity calendars for residents.
  • Organize and facilitate resident meetings and problem-solving sessions.
  • Maintain case notes in online services software and uphold confidentiality guidelines.

Requirements

  • 2 years' experience working with seniors and/or people with special needs OR a Bachelor's degree in social services.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Basic computer skills for maintaining client records and producing informational materials.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Well-organized, flexible, and able to conduct oneself professionally.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with elderly individuals with multiple health and psychosocial issues.
  • Knowledge of community resources relevant to the property location.
