About the position

The Resident Services Coordinator at the Jefferson Metropolitan Housing Authority (JMHA) plays a crucial role in assisting residents to maintain successful tenancies and enhance their quality of life. This position involves providing information and referrals to services, facilitating community engagement, and acting as a liaison between residents and various agencies. The Coordinator is responsible for developing programs that address self-sufficiency and well-being, ensuring residents have access to necessary resources and support.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an educator of service availability, informing residents about how to apply for services and benefits.
  • Recognize the importance of developing a sense of community to improve residents' health and well-being.
  • Serve as a liaison between residents and management, community-based agencies, and governmental agencies.
  • Establish links to community agencies and service providers, providing basic case management and referral services.
  • Assist in developing programming that addresses self-sufficiency issues such as money management, housekeeping, nutrition, and job readiness.
  • Assess and coordinate referrals and resources to resolve resident issues impacting their personal life and health.
  • Track resident program participation and referrals to community programs and services.
  • Document all interactions regarding assistance provided to residents in a designated tracking system.
  • Provide crisis intervention to residents as needed.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with residents, local government, non-profit agencies, and healthcare organizations.
  • Assist with reasonable accommodation requests from residents with disabilities.
  • Participate in apartment inspections and follow up on referrals from inspections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field preferred, or a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a social service setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, low-income population and communicate effectively with various clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and make sound judgments and decisions.
  • Knowledge of mental health, addictions, family issues, multicultural issues, and elderly service delivery systems.
  • Valid Driver's License and insurable under agency auto insurance.
