About the position

The Resident Technician position at CMHA-CEI involves assisting individuals with severe and persistent mental illness in a residential or supported independent living setting. The role focuses on personal care, skill acquisition, and promoting independence among residents, while also providing support for mental illness symptom management and daily living skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the personal care and treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
• Implement skill acquisition and understand the stages of change and substance use disorders as they relate to each individual's plan of service.
• Act as a resource and referral for residents to meet their needs.
• Support mental illness symptoms management.
• Train and assist residents in daily living skills such as medication management, personal care, interpersonal communication skills, cleaning, meal preparation, and laundry.
• Provide de-escalation skills and maintain required documentation.
• Assist residents in participation in community activities.
• Attend mandatory team meetings and in-service training sessions.

Requirements

• Possession of a High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Certification in Department of Community Health Group Home Skill Training is required.
• Ability to understand written instructions and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Ability to read and follow medication charts.
• Physical ability to lift 40lbs.
• Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
