About the position

The Residential Applications Engineer at Daikin is responsible for providing front-line application engineering support to enhance the use of Daikin products in the North American HVAC market. This role involves collaborating with the sales team, manufacturer representatives, and distributors to improve project specifications and conversion rates for Daikin technologies. The engineer will also engage in project support, competitor analysis, and compliance with codes and standards, while representing Daikin at various industry events.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project level application support to Daikin sales staff and our network of Daikin Manufacturer Reps & Distributors in the North American market
  • Utilize sales tools to support Distributors, Manufacturers Representatives, Contractors, Engineers Builders regarding design & application of equipment in both residential and commercial applications
  • Provide instruction & guidelines to create better Daikin specs for Reps, Builders Engineers
  • Offer instructions & guidelines, best practices to enhance system applications and set up in different residence types and climates
  • Maximize Daikin's opportunities for all projects through competitor conversion and comparison skills
  • Provide high level support and understanding for applicable national and local codes and standards
  • Guide the marketing team in creating Technical Tools / Selection Guides
  • Represent Daikin at networking events and seminars
  • Assist in project development by providing alternate equipment selections and options
  • Create technical documentation and presentations for use by Daikin staff and sales partners
  • Deliver technical presentations in the field to our sales partners
  • Train colleagues tasked with presenting application materials
  • Manage projects and processes while working independently and with limited supervision
  • Coach and review the work of lower-level professionals
  • Anticipate and solve practical problems, resolving issues effectively

Requirements

  • 5 plus years of HVAC industry experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • Excellent presentation and written/verbal communication skills
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to create and develop company-wide documents, tools, practices, and processes
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers, consultants, and internal personnel, including senior management
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a positive, flexible attitude

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of HVAC products, load calculations, building controls, duct design and installation practices
  • Experience in project management and coaching lower-level professionals
  • Ability to manage and respond to technical questions
