About the position

The Residential Building Materials/Lumber Estimator at Structural Component Systems, Inc. is responsible for estimating loose material orders for complex, custom residential projects. This full-time position requires a strong background in construction estimating, particularly with wood construction materials, and involves working closely with sales and project teams to ensure accurate and timely estimates that contribute to customer satisfaction and project profitability.

Responsibilities

• Estimate loose material orders for residential projects over $100,000 in sales.
• Optimize designs for accurate costing.
• Review takeoffs and calculations for accuracy.
• Assist sales with clear information presentation.
• Prepare detailed construction proposals from customer blueprints for customer presentation.
• Provide problem-solving solutions using Building Codes and product information.
• Assist in training and development of other estimators as required.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5-8 years of building material estimating experience required.
• Experience preparing bids utilizing Planswift, Timberline, MiTek, and other design-related software.
• Strong math skills and ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Proficiency in using computer software and typing at least 50 WPM.
• Minimum high school diploma; preferred bachelor's degree in a related discipline.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of Bistrack preferred but not required.
• Experience in loose material estimating or similar roles.
