About the position

The Residential Crisis Technician at New Hope Youth LLC is responsible for providing crisis stabilization services to adult clients with serious mental illnesses. The role focuses on helping individuals stabilize their crisis symptoms to prevent hospitalization and promote recovery. This position involves a structured approach to teaching clients to adhere to medical directives, manage daily tasks, and build support systems, ensuring a personalized approach to recovery and community reintegration.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates care coordination with other service providers to meet service objectives and identify additional resources.
  • Assists in creating a safe and healthy environment for clients.
  • Documents all clinical records required by state and licensure regulations to reflect client progress.
  • Develops Individual Safety Plans for clients.
  • Assists with meal and snack preparation.
  • Connects individuals with offsite appointments and transports them if necessary.
  • Helps individuals with laundry and prepares rooms for client admissions and discharges.
  • Provides sight and sound supervision for clients.
  • Answers phones and faxes documents as required.
  • Monitors and obtains necessary supplies for the residential setting.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor in all interactions with families and the community.
  • Attends staff and group meetings and participates in weekly supervision.
  • Prepares written Discharge Summaries and Plans for clients.
  • Attends scheduled training as directed and administers medication to individuals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Trained and experienced in providing mental health services to individuals with mental health illnesses.
  • Must meet qualifications for QMHP-A/T or LMHP-R and be in good standing with the Virginia Board of Health Professionals.
  • Knowledge of basic interviewing and assessment skills.
  • Skills in developing and implementing service plans.
  • Knowledge in teaching parenting, anger management, and social skills.
  • Crisis intervention knowledge and skills.
  • Familiarity with community resources and human services personnel roles.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, and service providers.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Eligibility for employment through successful criminal and central registry checks.
