About the position

The Residential Roofer position at Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal involves performing roofing application and repair work under general direction. The role requires a thorough understanding of roofing materials and safety practices, with a focus on maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety on various construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Applies asphalt roofing, sets flashing and expansion joints, and cuts roofing paper and other materials to fit roof corners and pipes.
• Uses asphalt and commercial compounds on overlapping joints; applies and fastens roofing materials.
• Inspects and determines leaks on all types of roofs.
• Lifts objects and works at elevation on a routine basis.
• Assists in the planning and setup of project safety requirements.
• Ensures the proper use of tools and safety equipment at all times.
• Applies thorough knowledge of standard practices, methods, processes, materials, machines, and tools of the trade.
• Performs inventory controls for job materials.
• Keeps work area clean and assists in making a safe working environment.
• Communicates and cooperates with foremen, project managers, supervisors, and coworkers.

Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (50 pounds).
• Able to lift, bend, and cut sheet metal.
• Stoop, crouch, bend, and step over obstacles.
• Experience working on roofs of tall buildings, sloped roofs, stadiums, and general construction sites.
• Carrying and climbing ladders.
• Setting up and working on scaffolding.
• Valid driver's license with a good, safe driving record.
• High school degree or equivalent.
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
