About the position

The Residential Youth Treatment Technician role at Lad Lake involves working directly with young men in residential care, providing supervision, guidance, and support. The position focuses on helping youth develop positive relationships and essential life skills while engaging in activities that promote their well-being. This role serves as a foundational step for career advancement within the organization, with opportunities to progress to higher positions such as Unit Managers and Campus Supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a positive role model for the youth in residential care programs.
  • Create opportunities for youth to enhance their skills, abilities, and interests.
  • Actively supervise youth by engaging in activities that interest them.
  • Plan and lead activities and daily routines.
  • Use verbal de-escalation techniques to intervene in crises with youth.
  • Participate in, evaluate, and document youth activities, including shift logs and incident reports.
  • Offer support to youth, their families, and ancillary service providers.
  • Provide transportation for youths' community-based needs and activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all written and verbal communications.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Availability to work weekends is necessary.
  • Demonstrate social, emotional, and intellectual maturity.
  • Ability to identify and appreciate positive aspects in people and circumstances.
  • Capacity to remain calm and defuse tense situations.
  • Proficiency in following written and verbal instructions.
  • Familiarity with computers and MS Office.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and disability issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in social services or human services fields.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices.
