About the position

The Resource Analyst 9-12 (Database Analyst) position is responsible for leading and implementing various programs related to fish management, including the Master Angler and state record fish programs. The role involves coordinating the underwater spearfishing licensing and reporting program, providing consultation and instruction on Division information systems, and supporting statewide programs. This position is crucial for the management of natural resources and requires a strong background in resource sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Master Angler and state record fish programs, including coordinating review, approval, and awarding of Master Angler awards.
  • Implement the underwater spearfishing licensing and reporting program as required by Fisheries Order 219.
  • Serve as a recognized resource on the management of Division information and data systems.
  • Provide instruction and consultation to other Division staff in the use of Division information systems.
  • Support the administration of ASRA statewide programs.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in a physical, biological, or natural resource science, resource management, resource planning, engineering, or a related field.
  • Resource Analyst 9: No specific type or amount of experience required.
  • Resource Analyst 10: One year of professional experience in the protection, development, and maintenance of land, water, or natural resources.
  • Resource Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience in the protection, development, and maintenance of land, water, or natural resources, including one year equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.
  • Resource Analyst 12: Three years of professional experience in the protection, development, and maintenance of land, water, or natural resources, including one year equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with fisheries management issues.
  • Proficiency in R or Python programming and software for data analysis and manipulation.
  • Experience in scientific writing and outreach activities.
