About the position

The Natural Resource Steward position is focused on enhancing resource stewardship within the Recreation Division of Michigan's state parks and recreation areas. This role involves coordinating a volunteer stewardship program aimed at habitat restoration and protection in Southwest Michigan, which includes recruiting, training, and leading volunteers. The position requires working in various weather conditions and obtaining a pesticide applicator certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate a volunteer stewardship program for habitat restoration and protection.
  • Recruit, train, orient, and lead volunteers in stewardship activities.
  • Implement resource stewardship initiatives in state parks and recreation areas.
  • Work in various weather conditions and manage areas with insects.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in a physical, biological, or natural resource science, resource management, resource planning, engineering, or a related field.
  • Resource Analyst 9: No specific type or amount of experience required.
  • Resource Analyst 10: One year of professional experience in the protection, development, and maintenance of land, water, or natural resources.
  • Resource Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience in the protection, development, and maintenance of land, water, or natural resources, including one year equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.
