About the position

The Resource Development & Marketing Assistant at The Arc of Prince George's County plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's fundraising and marketing efforts. This position focuses on donor communication, social media management, and routine office tasks, contributing to the overall visibility and engagement of the organization within the community. The ideal candidate is passionate about nonprofit work and possesses skills in database management and digital marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and execution of fundraising campaigns, including digital and in-person events.
  • Support the development team with donor research, tracking contributions, and maintaining donor databases.
  • Help prepare reports and donor communications, including thank-you letters, impact reports, and newsletters.
  • Collaborate with the development team to identify new fundraising opportunities.
  • Engage with donors, acknowledging their support and addressing their concerns to foster long-term loyalty.
  • Develop, schedule, and manage content for the organization's social media platforms.
  • Monitor and respond to social media interactions and messages in a timely manner.
  • Analyze and report on social media engagement and performance metrics.
  • Assist in creating visual content for social media, newsletters, and the website.
  • Coordinate and maintain a content calendar for social media posts and email newsletters.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop strategies for growing the organization's online presence.
  • Assist in uncovering and crafting stories that resonate with a wider audience.
  • Draft marketing copy, press releases, and campaign materials for online and print media.
  • Update and maintain the Arc's website content.
  • Support the design and distribution of email marketing campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience in marketing, fundraising, and social media management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proven experience in social media management and timely professional responses to inquiries.
  • Ability to analyze social media and marketing metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Keen interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of the agency.
  • Familiarity with fundraising and marketing strategies in a nonprofit environment.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop) and social media tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer).
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic understanding of donor management software (CRM) is desirable but not required.
  • Enthusiastic team player with a passion for social impact.
