About the position
The Senior LinkAge Line Resource Specialist is a part-time position at the Central Minnesota Council on Aging, focused on assisting older adults and their families by providing information and support through inbound calls. The role involves expert counseling on Medicare and benefits, helping clients navigate available options and connecting them to community resources.
Responsibilities
- Provide phone assistance to older adults and their families to evaluate their needs and connect them to community services and resources.
- Research service options and share information to offer comprehensive, objective support to clients regarding long-term care services, housing options, caregiver support, home services, and other public benefits.
- Provide advocacy or referral on behalf of a caller if required to obtain needed services.
- Provide information and education on the topic of Medicare and health insurance.
Requirements
- Experience in customer service or a related field, preferably with older adults.
- Knowledge of Medicare and health insurance options.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in social services or community resources.
- Familiarity with aging-related issues and services.
