About the position

The position involves developing and coordinating the fiscal year local functional training plan for the Taxpayer Services Division at the IRS. The role requires collaboration with management to ensure effective training delivery, monitoring training needs, and preparing necessary training materials and reports. This position is crucial for enhancing the skills and knowledge of employees within the division, ensuring compliance with training requirements, and improving overall service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the fiscal year local functional training plan in adherence to functional work plan assumptions.
  • Plan and coordinate all functional training and changes in the use of resources.
  • Recommend changes to procedures and practices as needed.
  • Obtain necessary training space, equipment, instructors, and materials.
  • Prepare, monitor, and maintain coordination of the Functional Site Training Plan.
  • Advise management on training needs identified through various sources.
  • Provide functional site training plans and reconciliation reports to relevant staff.
  • Prepare estimates of training costs to ensure proper budgeting for training activities.
  • Update the functional training section of the filing season readiness plan.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level in the Federal service, or a master's degree, or two full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience interpreting tax laws and regulations, developing job aids, and assisting with training materials.
  • Experience with training methods and delivering subject matter in a classroom environment.
  • Experience with relevant systems such as IDRS.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for providing guidance and facilitating discussions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with organizational procedures and functional programs to identify and resolve problems.
  • Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques.
