We are searching for an innovative and resilient RESPECT Specialist to join the Oklahoma Project RESPECT-West Team. In conjunction with the Project RESPECT Program Managers and the School-Based Mental Health Program Manager implement and oversee the goals, activities, and requirements of the Oklahoma Project Respect grant. Assist in the implementation of State Department of Education initiatives and applicable legislation; make recommendations for change; and perform related duties as assigned. Please note: This role requires full in-person attendance, with no options for remote work, telecommuting, or hybrid arrangements. The nature of this position necessitates a consistent in-person presence, and candidates should be prepared to fulfill all responsibilities on-site at the designated workplace in Oklahoma. Funding Source: This position is funded through the Project RESPECT West Grant which is funded by the US Department of Education. The funding for this position will end in December 31, 2029.

Responsibilities

  • Remain knowledgeable of current trends, best practices, and research in counseling, school based mental health services, psychology.
  • Provide training on trauma, and a comprehensive framework of tiered support, and any other required OSDE student support approved training.
  • Maintain familiarity with state and federal regulations, including but not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Civil Rights Act of 1964, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Support training and a communication plan for disseminating information to the school community.
  • Assist the team with developing meeting roles and norms.
  • Establish or identify a multi-disciplinary team reflective of the diverse members of the school community.
  • Engage stakeholder input in planning, decision-making, and collaboration between school and community.
  • Lead and coordinate continuous improvement efforts associated with professional learning, staff wellness, and provide family and community knowledge on trauma, adversity, and services for all through tiered supports.
  • Exhibit a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude.
  • Build relationships, display integrity, and maintain professionalism in communication, behavior, and appearance.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Counseling Elementary Education, Early Childhood, School Psychology, Education/Administration or related field.
  • Two years of experience in school based mental health services, trauma- informed care and a comprehensive framework of tiered support.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license from a U.S. state or territory to perform necessary job-related travel.
