About the position

The Respiratory Care Clinical Specialist ECMO position at Johns Hopkins Hospital involves providing specialized respiratory care to patients experiencing cardiopulmonary compromise. Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate treatment for patients with cardiopulmonary compromise.
  • Set up, operate, deliver, and discontinue medical gas therapy, humidity therapy, aerosol therapy, hyperinflation therapy, bronchial hygiene therapy, and mechanical ventilation.
  • Provide emergency care and airway management to patients with cardiopulmonary complications.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to implement and monitor multidisciplinary care plans.
  • Analyze and interpret physician orders and communicate treatment outcomes to the healthcare team.
  • Apply infection control techniques in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Develop organizational skills to manage clinical responsibilities effectively.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Respiratory Care from a COARC accredited program.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (C.R.T.) certification required.
  • Maryland State License required.
  • CPR Certification and B.L.S. required.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (R.R.T.) certification required for all new hires.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a comparable RCS division with documented competency.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care from a COARC accredited program preferred.
  • A.C.L.S. certification preferred.
