About the position

The Respiratory Care Practitioner II is responsible for delivering comprehensive respiratory care through patient assessment, planning, intervention, education, and evaluation. This role includes performing respiratory care procedures, monitoring patient responses to therapies, and serving as a preceptor for new team members. The practitioner may also take on charge responsibilities to ensure adequate staffing and patient care coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the shift 'Charge Therapist' ensuring adequate respiratory care staff coverage.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Perform treatments and therapies according to physician orders and modify based on patient response.
  • Maintain proper documentation and patient medical charting.
  • Provide patient education on cardiopulmonary diseases and treatment options.
  • Set up and maintain respiratory therapy equipment and supplies.
  • Respond to cardio-pulmonary resuscitations and participate as indicated.

Requirements

  • Current Respiratory Care License in the state of practice (required).
  • National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentialed (required).
  • Two years of experience as a Respiratory Care Professional (required).
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification (required).
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (required).
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (required).
  • Graduate of an AMA approved school for Respiratory Care (required).

Nice-to-haves

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (preferred).
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification (preferred).
  • Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) (preferred).
  • Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) (preferred).
  • ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialist) certification (preferred).
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (preferred).
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred).
