About the position
The position is for a Respiratory Therapist (RT) in a community hospital's respiratory department, primarily focusing on Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) patients, but also providing care in the Emergency Department, Critical Care ICU, and medical/surgical floors as needed. The role involves various respiratory therapies and tests, including ventilator management and attendance at deliveries, with a call requirement and weekend shifts.
Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory care for all patient populations, primarily in the NICU.
- Perform arterial blood gas tests and manage ventilators/NIV.
- Administer nebulizer treatments and attend deliveries.
- Set up and manage BCPAP and surfactant administration.
- Float to RRT-Adult as staffing requires.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Experience in ER Department, NICU, Pediatric Critical Care & ICU settings.
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP.
- Skills in ABG interpretation and high-risk delivery assistance.
- Proficient in airway management devices and suctioning techniques.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with medication administration skills such as Bicarbonate, Inhaled Flolan, Ketamine, Mucomyst, Nitric Oxide (INo), and Theophylline.
Benefits
- 36 hours can be offered, with a possibility of 18 weeks.
- 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
- Call requirement to arrive within 30 minutes for 3 call shifts per 6-week period.
- Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 6-week period.
