About the position

As a Respiratory Registered Nurse (RN) at Scioto Rehabilitation & Care Center, you will be responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care to patients with respiratory disorders. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to ensure optimal respiratory function and comfort. You will work collaboratively with a healthcare team to improve patient outcomes and promote overall wellness, while also managing complex respiratory equipment and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough respiratory assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
  • Develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans based on assessment findings and medical orders.
  • Administer and monitor respiratory care treatments, medications, and therapies as prescribed.
  • Educate patients and their families about respiratory conditions, treatment options, and self-management techniques.
  • Continuously monitor and assess patient responses to respiratory interventions, documenting changes in condition.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals for coordinated care.
  • Maintain and operate respiratory equipment and devices, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Respond to respiratory emergencies, providing immediate life-saving interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessments and care plans.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements and hospital policies to ensure safe nursing practice.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of respiratory care protocols.

Requirements

  • Inpatient mid-level ICU experience
  • Experience working with ventilator patients
  • 2 years of experience in respiratory nursing
  • Knowledge of discharge planning and care plans
