About the position

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide and coordinate comprehensive respiratory care for patients. The role involves administering respiratory care procedures, utilizing evidence-based practices, and ensuring a safe patient environment. The therapist will work flexible hours and is responsible for educating patients and collaborating with other departments to enhance patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive respiratory care.
• Administer respiratory care procedures and modalities according to established standards.
• Utilize pulmonary diagnostics and correlate blood gases and electrolytes.
• Operate specialized ventilators in various care settings.
• Assist physicians with bedside procedures as applicable.
• Provide medication treatments and therapies as prescribed.
• Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment.
• Educate patients on therapy purpose, techniques, and disease management.
• Collaborate with other departments for patient education and care.
• Promote a culture of safety and report patient safety events.

Requirements

• Active Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state.
• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program with at least an associate degree.
• Effective organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient computer skills and ability to use electronic medical records.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not required.
