About the position

The Respiratory Therapist at WakeMed Health & Hospitals is responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care services to patients of all age groups. This role encompasses a variety of critical functions including ventilator management, airway management, medication administration, and patient education, ensuring high-quality care and support for patients with respiratory issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care services to patients of all age groups.
• Manage invasive and non-invasive ventilators.
• Administer aerosol medications and perform chest physical therapy.
• Conduct routine and advanced oxygen therapy.
• Acquire and analyze blood gas samples.
• Perform pulmonary function testing and electrocardiogram acquisition.
• Participate in code blue and rapid response situations.
• Support neonatal resuscitation during high-risk infant deliveries.
• Transport ventilator patients and provide respiratory-focused patient teaching.

Requirements

• 1 Year Clinical Experience in Respiratory Therapy (Preferred)
• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy (Required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (Required)
• NC Respiratory Care Practitioner (Required)
• Basic Life Support Certification (Required)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification (Required within 1 Year of Hire)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (Required within 1 Year of Hire)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (Required within 1 Year of Hire)
