About the position

The Respiratory Therapist III at Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care. This role involves performing diagnostic tests, administering therapies, and monitoring patients receiving mechanical ventilation, ensuring adherence to state and specialty standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with the placement of artificial airways.
  • Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify providers of any unintended responses.
  • Assist with the transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
  • Respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Program.
  • Licensed by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Nevada State license to perform arterial blood gases.
  • Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care and the Neonatal Pediatric Specialty (NPS) credential.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required.
  • One year's experience in an acute care facility or freestanding practice, with recent acute care experience within the last six months.
  • Critical Care and Ventilator Management experience in Adult and Pediatric/Neonatal settings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ABGs, EKGs, ICU, preceptor experience, venous puncture, and line maintenance.
