About the position
The Respiratory Therapist position at UC Davis Rehabilitation Hospital involves providing respiratory therapy treatments and managing mechanical ventilators for patients in a post-acute rehabilitation setting. The role focuses on delivering superior patient care and supporting individuals recovering from various medical conditions, including strokes and spinal cord injuries. The therapist will work in a state-of-the-art facility that emphasizes interdisciplinary teamwork and advanced therapeutic technologies.
Responsibilities
- Maintains knowledge of various methods of oxygen delivery and necessary equipment.
- Administers respiratory therapy treatments and assesses possible side effects.
- Sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators, including airway management and tracheal suctioning.
- Assesses patient pain that interferes with rehabilitation and contacts physicians for intervention.
- Performs arterial punctures for blood gas analysis and understands associated complications.
- Performs EKGs, types report interpretations, and files reports according to department procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current State Respiratory Therapist Licensure
- Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy
- Current CPR certification (BLS or ACLS)
- Three or more years of previous experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services highly preferred.
