About the position

The Respiratory Therapist position at UC Davis Rehabilitation Hospital involves providing respiratory therapy treatments and managing mechanical ventilators for patients in a post-acute rehabilitation setting. The role focuses on delivering superior patient care and supporting individuals recovering from various medical conditions, including strokes and spinal cord injuries. The therapist will work in a state-of-the-art facility that emphasizes interdisciplinary teamwork and advanced therapeutic technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge of various methods of oxygen delivery and necessary equipment.
  • Administers respiratory therapy treatments and assesses possible side effects.
  • Sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators, including airway management and tracheal suctioning.
  • Assesses patient pain that interferes with rehabilitation and contacts physicians for intervention.
  • Performs arterial punctures for blood gas analysis and understands associated complications.
  • Performs EKGs, types report interpretations, and files reports according to department procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current State Respiratory Therapist Licensure
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy
  • Current CPR certification (BLS or ACLS)
  • Three or more years of previous experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services highly preferred.
