About the position

The Respiratory Therapist at Mercy is responsible for providing direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory care, following physician's orders. This role involves consulting with physicians regarding the effectiveness of therapy and acting as an advanced resource for both physicians and nursing staff on respiratory care matters. The position is integral to the hospital's operations, requiring a compassionate approach to patient care and collaboration with healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory care according to physician's orders.
• Consult with physicians on the effectiveness of therapy.
• Act as an advanced resource person for physicians and nursing on respiratory care.
• Perform assigned duties as required.

Requirements

• Graduate of CoArc approved Respiratory Care program.
• Meets state licensure requirements and has a current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
• Hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• For co-workers in the Emergency Room, PALS certification is required.
• Ability to meet physical demands including pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, and kneeling, crouching, and crawling minimally.
