About the position

The Respiratory Therapist - PCCS Nights at AdventHealth Tampa is responsible for providing advanced respiratory care to critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients. This role involves working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to implement evidence-based practices and develop patient care plans focused on disease management. The therapist will perform necessary respiratory care procedures, including life support techniques, and ensure compliance with hospital policies and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform respiratory care procedures for complex pediatric critically-ill patients.
  • Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care settings.
  • Support and provide direction for evidence-based practice through patient care protocols.
  • Develop patient care plans focused on disease management for critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients.
  • Initiate and maintain appropriate therapy, including life support techniques and equipment.
  • Assess, stabilize, and treat neonates/pediatric patients according to established policies and procedures.
  • Perform hemodynamic procedures, including assembly and calibration of arterial lines and assisting with pulmonary artery catheter insertion.
  • Proactively initiate process improvement ideas and assist with clinical instruction for new staff.
  • Document and charge for procedures accurately and thoroughly to meet quality standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Care program by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • AAS or AS degree is required.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification is required.
  • Minimum of two years neonatal and/or pediatric critical care clinical experience in an acute care setting is required.
  • Current Florida State License as a RRT/Registered Respiratory Therapist is required.
  • Current National Board of Respiratory Care RRT Credential is required.
  • Current National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) credential for NPS Neonatal Pediatric Specialist must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification is required.
  • American Academy of Pediatrics NRP certification is required.
