About the position
Banner Rehabilitation Hospital, a joint venture with Select Medical & Banner Hospital located in Mesa, AZ, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RT) to join our team on a PRN/per diem/as needed basis. The position offers a pay rate of $35.00 per hour. The ideal candidate must have at least 1 year of RT experience and will be responsible for performing both basic and advanced therapeutic procedures as outlined by the State Department of Health and under the scope of respiratory care services. The role involves transcribing and implementing physician orders competently and in a timely manner, as well as using advanced oxygen assessment skills to coordinate patient care needs.
Responsibilities
- Performs advanced life support procedures including tracheal intubation using independent judgment in coordinating patient's respiratory care plans and needs with the physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff.
- Confers with physicians to formulate and coordinate alternative forms of therapy according to patient need.
- Initiates patient-ventilator weaning procedures under the direction of the physician.
- Performs basic trach care including but not limited to routine and emergent trach tube changes.
- Monitors patient's respiratory status using competent bedside assessment skills and maintains awareness of patient pH/electrolyte balance, ABG values, renal, neurological, and orthopedic functions as applicable to the delivery of respiratory care.
Requirements
- Must possess 'Active' CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
- Possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date.
- Current state licensure required.
- ACLS required within 6 months of hire (Agency RT must have ACLS upon first shift, PRN staff must have ACLS upon hire).
Nice-to-haves
- One (1) year of related experience preferred.
