About the position
The Respiratory Therapist RRT PRN at Angel Medical Center is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care. This role involves performing diagnostic tests, administering therapies, and monitoring patients on mechanical ventilation, ensuring their safety and comfort during treatment.
Responsibilities
- Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider in case of unintended response.
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
- Respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation.
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Respiratory Care OR Completion of Respiratory Care Program Accredited by Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
- Registered by NBRC; a current North Carolina License issued by North Carolina Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB) and a current BCLS.
Nice-to-haves
- Associates Degree in Respiratory Care OR Completion of Respiratory Care Program Accredited by Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and 20 years of experience.
- ACLS, PALS, NRP (Pediatric-Perinatal Specialty) certification.
- 2 years critical care experience.
