About the position

The Respiratory Therapist position at AdventHealth Tampa involves providing critical respiratory care to patients of all ages, including those who are acutely or critically ill. The role encompasses both advanced and routine respiratory therapy procedures, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care while adhering to safety and compliance standards. Responsibilities

• Perform all necessary respiratory care procedures for acute or critically ill patients.
• Initiate and maintain appropriate therapy, including life support techniques and equipment.
• Participate in outstanding customer service and maintain respectful relationships with all stakeholders.
• Respond to Code Blue emergencies and provide CPR as needed.
• Perform airway maintenance and assist with tracheostomy procedures.
• Utilize patient assessment skills to determine therapy efficacy and make recommendations.
• Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases and perform quality controls as needed.
• Initiate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilators according to policy.
• Document and charge for all procedures accurately and thoroughly.
• Provide effective patient education on therapy modalities.

Requirements

• Knowledge of ABG puncture and analysis.
• CPR certification and basic airway management skills.
• Experience with oscillatory chest physiotherapy applications.
• Proficiency in non-invasive oxygen therapies and devices.
• Ability to perform respiratory monitoring and pulse oximetry applications.
• Experience with medicated aerosol therapies and bronchial hygiene therapies.
• Basic spirometry skills and routine oxygen delivery knowledge.
• Advanced tracheostomy care skills, including change and de-cannulation.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with bronchoscopy assistance.
• Knowledge of advanced non-invasive bilevel application and management.
• Familiarity with invasive and non-invasive end-tidal CO2 capnography application.
