About the position

The Respite Counselor will work as part of a team in an acute care residence, providing guidance, education, supervision, and direct support to consumers. The role focuses on helping individuals maintain their physical and emotional health, live safely in the community, and develop skills necessary for independent living. The Respite programs cater to individuals experiencing mental health issues, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders, offering structured stabilization and support to prevent the need for inpatient treatment.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and education to consumers in an acute care setting.
• Supervise and support consumers to maintain their physical and emotional health.
• Assist consumers in developing skills for independent living.
• Document consumer progress and activities in program records.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure effective care coordination and treatment planning.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• One year of experience in a related field with an Associate Degree or three years of related experience with a High School Diploma.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle access.
