About the position

The Principal of Responsible Investing & ESG at Blue Owl will play a pivotal role in enhancing the firm's ESG program and strategy within the Credit platform. This position involves leading the integration of ESG analysis in underwriting processes, ensuring effective implementation of ESG risk analysis tools, and managing ESG monitoring and reporting for credit strategies. The role requires collaboration with investment teams and portfolio management to uphold high standards of responsible investing practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the integration of ESG analysis and related diligence in underwriting for the Credit platform.
  • Collaborate with investment and portfolio management teams to enhance responsible investing practices.
  • Serve as the team representative on the portfolio management team for Article 8 aligned credit fund.
  • Implement and integrate proprietary tools for ESG Risk Analysis across all deals.
  • Oversee ESG monitoring and portfolio management of underlying assets, including reporting and data collection.
  • Manage ESG investor reporting and requests for named Credit strategies.
  • Develop capabilities in thematic areas such as human capital, labor risks, human rights, governance issues, and supply chain risk.
  • Support ESG team members in Climate, Data, Reporting, and Disclosures for Credit portfolios.
  • Contribute to the leadership team for the Responsible Investing and ESG function.

Requirements

  • At least 13-15 years of relevant professional experience in ESG/sustainability/responsible investing for private markets or related fields.
  • Core skills in ESG-related due diligence in credit or relevant investment strategies in private markets.
  • Experience collaborating with investment teams, portfolio management teams, and borrowers.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as SASB, PAIs, SFDR, SLLP.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, interpersonal, and influencing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Specific experience in alternative credit and/or related portfolios with similar ESG-related risks.
  • Thematic expertise in human capital, human rights, governance, and/or supply chain risk.

Benefits

  • Base annual salary range of $175,000 to $225,000, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Eligibility for a discretionary bonus based on individual and team performance.
