About the position

The Restaurant General Manager at The Waldorf Astoria New York is responsible for overseeing the operations of the restaurant, ensuring exceptional guest service and financial profitability. This role requires a strategic leader who can drive innovation and foster a positive culture while delivering memorable dining experiences in a luxury setting.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and administer the activities and services of the restaurant to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
  • Plan and direct all aspects of restaurant operations including guest service standards, product quality, cost controls, and overall profitability.
  • Monitor and develop team member performance through supervision, professional development, and recognition.
  • Create and maintain a customer database and collaborate with Sales and Marketing/Public Relations on marketing strategies.
  • Maximize efficiency of technology systems such as Open Table.
  • Monitor service and satisfaction trends, evaluate issues, and implement improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness standards.
  • Initiate upselling techniques to promote restaurant offerings and maximize revenue, including creating new menus.
  • Recruit, interview, and train team members.

Requirements

  • Prior Restaurant Management experience in an upscale fine dining environment.
  • Experience at a Michelin Star restaurant.
  • Significant experience managing a unionized or organized workforce.
  • No less than 5 years of substantial work experience at the level of General Manager.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior Restaurant Management experience in a Forbes 5-Star hotel or equivalent.
  • High level of IT proficiency.
