About the position

The Restaurant Manager at Genesis Hospitality & Dining is responsible for overseeing operations at multiple locations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This role involves training staff, managing kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining high standards of food quality and service. The manager will also handle inventory, menu planning, and staff scheduling while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Train new workers and collaborate with HR to fill staffing gaps.
  • Prioritize and delegate tasks in the kitchen to ensure speed and quality of the menu.
  • Manage ordering, receiving, menu planning, cost control, waste management, and staff training procedures.
  • Recognize quality standards in fresh vegetables, fish, dairy, and meat products.
  • Handle food in accordance with local health department guidelines.
  • Enforce the department's dress code and safety regulations, reporting any unsafe conditions.
  • Attend assigned in-service training and education sessions.
  • Ensure the restaurant is prepared for inspections.
  • Maintain inventory of all equipment and ensure proper storage and rotation.
  • Set standards for professional appearance and maintain company uniforms.
  • Work shifts as needed when staffing is inadequate.
  • Carry out managerial responsibilities in line with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested by the Food and Beverage Company Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree highly preferred but not required.
  • ServSafe Certification required.
  • At least three (3) years' experience in upscale restaurant management.
  • Ability to effectively manage and inspire a team.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Ability to work in a noisy, hot, and variable kitchen environment.
  • Attention to detail with excellent managerial skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Enthusiasm, integrity, and a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making ability under pressure.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is desired but not mandatory.
  • Dependable and reliable.

  • Knowledge of wine and spirits is preferred.
