About the position

The Restaurant Server at Highgate Hotels is responsible for delivering exceptional service to guests in a courteous and efficient manner. This role involves taking and delivering orders, processing payments, and ensuring overall guest satisfaction while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization in the dining area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, friendly, and courteous service to all guests, managers, and fellow employees.
  • Familiarize oneself with the organization of the restaurant, lounges, and room service, and understand the function of each job position.
  • Have thorough knowledge of menus and current specials in applicable outlets.
  • Service guests with all food and beverage requirements efficiently.
  • Pre-bus tables by removing soiled dishes after each course.
  • Operate the P.O.S system effectively.
  • Perform cashiering functions, including closing checks and preparing end-of-shift paperwork.
  • Execute opening and closing procedures and side-work duties according to station rotation assignments.
  • Ensure tables and side stands are stocked, tidy, and clean.
  • Keep beverages at least ¾ full for guests.
  • Breakdown trays of soiled dishes and linen in the dishroom according to established standards.
  • Answer the telephone according to standards.
  • Consistently upsell food, beverage, and promotional items to guests.
  • Be familiar with fire extinguishers and their locations, and know how to use them.
  • Receive and deliver food and beverage orders and collect payment.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible and long hours as required.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand for the entire shift.
  • Ability to maneuver throughout the dining area while carrying full trays of food and beverages.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Ability to understand and apply complex information from various sources.
